What's the Difference Between Team Red and Red Riders?

Red Rider vs. Team Red - An Explanation

A lot of people are confused about Red Riders and Team Red.  They are two separate things.  I'll explain here...

What is a Red Rider?

A Red Rider is a rider that has diabetes - you specify this when you register for the Tour de Cure, as well as your jersey size and whether you wish to be recognized as a Red Rider and receive a Red Rider jersey.

What is Team Red?

Team Red is the Tour de Cure "House Team" - it's a team you can join if you're not affiliated with any other team.

  • Team Red is there for everyone
  • Anyone can be on Team Red

How do Red Riders Relate to Team Red?

Red Riders and Team Red are two separate things, but they can overlap.

  • You can be both a Red Rider and be on Team Red
  • You can be a Red Rider and ride on any other team
  • You can be a Red Rider and ride individually
  • You don't have to be a Red Rider to be on Team Red
